The MaQTech program sponsored and organized the High School Teachers Workshop at the 2026 CAP Congress, held at the University of Ottawa on June 2, 2026. The workshop attracted nearly 25 participants and featured a combination of lectures and hands-on activities exploring the theme “Unlocking Quantum Worlds and AI.”
PROGRAM
We were honored to welcome Professor Donna Strickland, 2018 Nobel Prize laureate in Physics and professor at the University of Waterloo, to the event.
During the workshop, she delivered a lecture entitled “Generating High-Intensity Ultrashort Optical Pulses.” Professor Strickland, accompanied by her husband Doug Dykaar, visited the LABs of Professors Paul Corkum and Zenghu Chang, providing an opportunity for fruitful exchanges on current research activities. They had lunch with the Optica-SPIE Chapter from the University of Ottawa.
In the evening, Professor Strickland gave a public lecture, “Trust in Science,” which was attended by more than 100 participants.
The event concluded with a dinner at the “Working Title Kitchen”.
